DTV Visa Proof of Funds Requirements

What counts as proof of funds, the 500,000 THB threshold, and common mistakes that get applications rejected.

Thailand's DTV visa requires proof of funds of at least 500,000 THB (approximately $14,000 USD or £11,000 GBP, depending on exchange rates). This must be held in a bank account rather than investments or cryptocurrency platforms.

What Counts as Proof of Funds?

Thai immigration accepts several types of documentation to prove you meet the 500,000 THB requirement. The key is that the funds must be readily accessible in a bank account, not tied up in investments.

What Does NOT Count

How Long Must Funds Be in Your Account?

Thai immigration generally looks for funds that have been "aged" in your account — typically for at least 2-3 months before your application. This demonstrates financial stability rather than a last-minute transfer to meet the requirement.

If your bank statements show a large recent deposit, be prepared to explain the source of those funds. Consistent balances over time are viewed more favorably than sudden spikes.

Currency Conversion

You don't need to hold the funds in Thai Baht. Your home currency is fine, but the balance must be equivalent to 500,000 THB at current exchange rates. Immigration officers use the prevailing rate at the time of your application.

Note: Always check current rates as they fluctuate.

Joint Accounts and Multiple Sources

Funds in joint accounts are generally acceptable, but you may need to provide additional documentation proving your access to those funds. If combining multiple bank accounts to reach the 500,000 THB threshold, provide statements for all accounts.
